Magical times, MOTHERHOOD, that gives you the power to love someone even before seeing them.

It was the 10th of September 2019 when I came to know that a tiny human will be a part of me soon. Still in dilemma to take the responsibility for lifetime, but I was definitely happy and excited for it (No periods for 9 months.. Kidding). I was already 6 weeks pregnant when I came know and after checking with the doctor and we booked the dating scan. Came along the morning sickness and I knew for sure that pregnancy is the happiest reason to feel like crap. 26th of September 2019, I got the first glimpse of my baby and listened to the heart beat. In the dating scan we came to know about the ovarian cyst on my left ovary which was as big as 350 ml coke can, doctor was definitely concerned about the size of the cyst as it might affect the growth of the baby inside womb whereas they were not worried as it was a quite cyst as I never had any abdominal pains. With all the checks and doctor’s report my due date was 9th May 2020.

First trimester was not an easy job as growing a Tiny Human is pretty exhausting. Nausea, bloating, frequent peeing, pelvic pain, boobs on fire, acne, facial hair, bleeding gums, heartburns, backaches.. Yes, pregnancy is wonderful.

As I had very bad morning sickness doctor advised me to start taking Maxolon tablet (which is a prescription based medicine) to ease out the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, it surely helped me in giving the relief making my mornings much easier. This journey had a lots of ups and downs not only physically but emotionally as well. Preparing the mind and the body for what is going to happen was tiring. First trimester is still not bad in terms that I was still able to fit into my clothes. A gained about 3 kg towards to end of third month.

Thyroid during pregnancy

I was always on the borderline for hypothyroidism as I have this hereditary issue whereas I had never been on the medication for that. In my first set of bloods this was missed and when I underwent the second blood screening the results were not great and my regular GP recommended me to see an Endocrinologist as quick as I can reason being that hypothyroidism can become a cause for miscarriage. I went completely into the panic situation and booked for the specialist and with another lot of bloods I was put on 75gm of Thyroxine tablet (a prescription based medicine). Doctor would be checking and repeating the blood tests after frequent intervals to make sure the level of hormones are under control.

My Diet During First Trimester

I have always eaten healthy food and that was continually even in the pregnancy. Obviously due to morning sickness the options were limited. I kept consuming fruits in the morning, nuts, yogurt, beans and lentils. Meat is a good source of protein but because of the sickness I did not like it during the first three months. Maggi was my go to food when I did not feel like eating anything (not a healthy option though).

Work Out during pregnancy

Before getting pregnant I was following sort of strict diet and exercise regime to keep my body in shape. Just a couple of weeks before knowing about the pregnancy I did not feel like doing any sort of exercise. And most of the times during the first trimester I did not indulge into any sort of exercise due to my health as I felt tired and exhausted most of the times. The only thing I was doing was walking - long walks. My plan was to enrol in Pilates or Yoga once I feel little bit better but this did not happen in the first 3 months.

** Excitement level was this high that we bought baby cot just at the end of first trimester.

WAITING WAITING WAITING

So excited by the thought of meeting this little person who is half me and half my better half
