Happiness & Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the time of excitement and a long waiting game filled with not only amusement but also nausea, vomit, headaches, exhaustion, fatigue and more. Pregnancy is a state that brings both joy and stress at the same time. Every pregnancy is different from the other and can be less or more challenging depending on the body type, diet, environment and other factors. On one side pregnancy is all about completing the family and bringing a tiny human to the world, whereas on the other side it is not easy as the body goes through several changes which can be physical, emotional and mental.

Regardless of the situation HAPPINESS has to be the foremost factor of pregnancy. Happiness, which is a supreme segment of Emotional Well being, is essential in coping with stress, having a fun filled life and dealing with the rest of the emotions specially during pregnancy.

Why is it that important to be happy while pregnant? Happy mothers produce Happy babies!! The baby in the womb is exposed to everything that the expecting mum is experiencing which includes the sounds of the outer world, the air that she is breathing in, the food that is consumed and the emotions that a female is feeling. Therefore when you feel happy and calm the baby feels the same. However, if there is stress and anxiety there are chances that the same hormones can affect the baby's developing body and brain. Also high levels of cortisol (Stress hormone) in pregnancy are connected with the babies who cry more and sleep less after birth. Moreover, it can have the effect on the baby's weight.

Key thing is to keep yourself occupied with the stuff you like to keep the environment around yourself light and happy. Despite the efforts pregnancy can be stressful but it is necessary to take time out regularly to do something that can soothe you - be it yoga, meditation, exercise, walks, watching favourite shows, listening to music, taking warm baths..
